Zumbimba Programme in Salvador Brazil 2008
This project is carried out by the Filhos de Bimba School Of Capoeira with the support of the Mestre Bimba Foundation and the Turma de BimbaFor 17 years the filhos de Bimba School of capoeira has organised and carried out the Zumbimba celebration, commemorating dates for the capoeira community: 20th November, the anniversary of the death of Zumbi, the established date of the NATIONAL BLACK AWARENESS DAY, and its proximity to the ANNIVERSARY OF MESTRE BIMBA´S BITHDAY, the master who, with his work, sustained the process of capoeira's expansion. Although the ZUMBIMBA celebration is an initiative of capoeira Regional, it was created in order to unite capoeiristas of all styles and social backgrounds. As such, along the years it has established itself as a celebration of cameraderie.
This year as part of ZUMBIMBA the Mestre Bimba Foundation is offering a practical and theoretical course especially aimed at those of the level of monitor, formado, professor, mestre as well as other educators.
The objective of couse is to enhance and clarify knowledge and understanding in relation to capoeira Regional and its creator.

10.00: Class: basic movements, 1st Star
12.00: Lunch break
AFTERNOON
14.00: Class: 2nd, 3rd and 4th Stars
16.00: Talk
17.00: Break (snack)
18.00: Event: Capoerê project peformance, Turma de Bimba performance, Iúna
Friday 21st November
Location: Forte da Capoeira, Salvador, Brazil
MORNING
10.00: Class: 5th star, Cintura desprezada sequence, game rhythms: banguela, São Bento grande and Iúna
12.00: Lunch break
AFTERNOON
14.00: Berimbau course
16.00: Celebratory roda
17.00: Break (snack)
18.00: Event: Filhos de Bimba dance performance, Tijubinas' performance, roda of the year, presentation of certificates (course and those who did the assessments), Samba de Chula.
Saturday 22nd November
Formatura 2008: ceremony to present medals of merit
Sunday 23rd November
Location: Praça Mestre Bimba, Salvador, Brazil
10.00: Roda in homage of Mestre Bimba's Birthday
Course fee: R$100.00 (includes Certificate of Participation)
